

Billy Acedo
Billy Acedo - Coach Billy Acedo
joined the Sports Academy staff in 2006 as a hitting
instructor. Acedo enters the Sports Academy from Southern
California where he specialized in working with the hitters
at Mt. San Jacinto College, where Acedo coached and played
under Steve Alonzo from 1995-2006. Acedo now resides in the
Berkshires where he is now a hitting consultant with several
area schools such as Williams College. In the summer of 2007
Coach Acedo was named hitting coach for the Pittsfield Dukes
a NECBL Team.

Mike Marron
Mike Marron - Coach Mike Marron is
currently the assistant coach at UMass Lowell and also the
recruiting coordinator at the university. A former standout
at the college of the Holy Cross joins the Sports Academy
staff as a catching instructor. Marron was a two- year
all-league standout at Germantown Academy in Fort
Washington, PA. Following graduation in 2000, he attended
Mercersburg Academy for a postgraduate year where he helped
lead the Blue Storm to the Pennsylvania private school state
championship. Marron spent the summers of 2004 and 2005
playing for the Lexington Blue Sox of the Intercity League,
which he helped guide to league titles both seasons. In 2007
Marron was named the manager of the Pittsfield Dukes. Marron
is currently a high school English teacher at the Molloy
Alternative School in Lowell. He lives in South Boston, MA.

Mark Ketley - Coach Mark Ketley is
the current assistant head coach and pitching coach for
Wilton High School where has been coaching for 25 years.
Coach Ketley is the former Head Coach for Wilton American
Legion. Ketley who is a former pitcher for the University of
Tampa and Central Connecticut State University, specializes
in working with the outfielders at the Sports Academy.
Ryan Fecteau -Coach
Ryan Fecteau is the current pitching coach at Southern Utah
University. In the summer of 2007 Fecteau was named
pitching coach for the Pittsfield Dukes a NECBL Team and
also served as pitching coach at St. Lawrence University for
2 years. A native of Gilmanton, NH with a degree in
business from St. Anselm’s Fecteau was a four-year starter
and senior captain for the Hawks and established five St.
Anselm career pitching records. Fecteau holds the Hawk
records for career wins with 20 strikeouts with 254, innings
pitched at 312.2, complete games at 16 and opposing batting
average at .236. Fecteau specialty is working with the
pitchers at the Sports Academy.

Steve Alonzo
Steve Alonzo - As the head
baseball coach at Mt. San Jacinto College in California
for many years, Coach Alonzo has had 18 of his players drafted
by Major League Baseball. He has coached professionally,
most recently as a hitting instructor in the Boston Red
Sox organization with the Lowell Spinners (1999-2001) and
in the Montreal Expos organization (1991-1994). Coach Alonzo
has also played and coached professionally in Italy and,
in 1988, received a master’s degree from Brigham Young
University. Steve specializes in working with the hitters
and catchers at the Sports Academy.

Pat Boulger
Pat Boulger – Coach Pat Boulger has
been a member of the Sports Academy staff since our first
year and is a favorite of all campers. He is currently a
history / sociology teacher and coach at Drury High School
in North Adams, MA. Coach Boulger has been apart of several
Berkshire County and Western Massachusetts Championship
teams with Drury during the past 6 years. He graduated from
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and is currently
working on his Masters Degree.
Mike Gambino – Coach
Gambino enjoyed a standout college baseball career at Boston
College from 1997-2000, which was followed by a brief minor
league career with the Boston Red Sox. As a senior at BC
in 2000, Coach Gambino set a school record for hits in a
season (78) en route to earning All-Big East, All-New England,
and American Baseball Coaches Association Northeast Region
first team honors. Since his playing days, Coach Gambino
has coached in the Boston Red Sox organization as a both
a special assistant to the major league club and an assistant
coach for the Lowell Spinners, and most recently as an assistant
coach with his alma mater Boston College Eagles. Coach Gambino
has received praise for his ability to coach infielders
and hitters. Mike is currently a scout for the Detroit
Tigers.
Joe Kerrigan
– Presently the pitching coach for the Philadelphia
Phillies, Joe is considered one of the top pitching coaches
in the majors. Kerrigan has pitched for both the Montreal
Expos and the Baltimore Orioles. Joe’s coaching career
started in Montreal where he helped groom the likes of Pedro
Martinez, Ken Hill and Jeff Fassero. In 1996 Kerrigan joined
the Boston Red Sox as pitching coach. In 2001 Kerrigan replaced
Jimy Williams as manager of the Red Sox. Kerrigan will participate
in The Academy’s Elite Pitching weekend, barring a
playoff run by the Phillies.
Buddy Pellerin
- Coach Pellerin is a member of the Massachusetts
Baseball Coach’s Hall of Fame. He spent 19 years coaching
for Pittsfield (MA) High School, compiling over 300 victories.
Buddy is also a member of the U.N.I.C.O. baseball Hall of
Fame and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Hall
of Fame. Coach Pellerin is a teacher of fundamentals and
is well known for teaching his players an enthusiastic style
of ball.

Brad Riddle
Brad Riddle - Coach Riddle joined the
Sports Academy staff in 2005 and is currently the Head
Baseball Coach at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South
Carolina. Originally from Chicago, He was drafted and signed
by the Atlanta Braves. Brad has also scouted for the Kansas
City Royals and coached at Faulkner University. Coach
Riddle’s teaching specialties include Hitting, Outfield play
and Baserunning.
Herm Starrette
- Coach Starrette was a standout relief pitcher with the
Baltimore Orioles. His abilities to teach and instruct pitchers
are well recognized within the ranks of Major League Baseball.
Coach Starrette has served as pitching coach for the Atlanta
Braves, San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia
Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, and Baltimore
Orioles.

Bill Thurston
Bill Thurston
– Head coach of the Amherst College baseball program,
Thurston is the leader in total wins of any sport in the
colleges’ long sports history. Thurston is widely
respected as a teacher of baseball skills and techniques,
as well as, an outstanding game-coach and manager. As the
top pitcher and hitter, at the University of Michigan, he
went on to sign a professional contract with the Detroit
Tigers. He played three seasons with the Tiger organization.
He has authored a book “An Instructional Manual for
Pitchers and Pitching Techniques.” Thurston has also
produced four pitching videos, stressing proper pitching
mechanics, video analysis of the pitching motion, proper
care of the arm, and prevention of pitching injuries.

Jennifer Finley
Jennifer Finley is entering her ninth
season as the head softball coach at Boston College. In
her first eight seasons, Finley has developed the Eagle
program into a power in the BIG EAST Conference and a nationally
competitive team. She has led the Eagles to two BIG EAST
Tournament Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances,
and has become one of the most accomplished young coaches
in the nation. Her staff was named BIG EAST Coaching Staff
of the Year in 2003. Prior to her arrival at Boston College,
Finley served as the head coach at Providence College for
two seasons. In two years at her alma mater, she led the
Lady Friars to two ECAC Championships and one BIG EAST tournament
championship.

Caryn Haskins Caryn Haskins begins her second
season as an assistant coach for the Providence College
softball program and her second summer instructing at the
Dan Duquette Sports Academy. A 2002 graduate of the
University of Connecticut, Haskins pitched four years for
the Huskies (1999-02). In addition, she played for UConn's
eighth NCAA tournament participating team and the 2001 Big
East championship team. She ranked seventh all time in
appearances with 76 and had the most appearances of any
freshman pitcher in UConn history. As a freshman, Haskins
led the Big East in saves with four. A three time Big East
Academic All-Star, she also was a NFCA All-American Scholar
Athlete in 2002. Caryn currently resides in Medford, Mass.

Bill Barrale - QB Coach Williams College
2004-present
95/96 Rutgers, assisted Terry Shea (KC Chiefs, QB Coach)
coaching the QB's. Offensive Coordinator @ Norwich U.
98-03 during which time Ben Clark shattered school's
career QB records.

Dick Farley
Dick Farley - After seventeen years of
coaching, Dick Farley is the all-time victory leader at
Williams College. Farley ranks second in winning percentage
among all coaches who have coached in NCAA Div. III and
have won 100 games. He is sixth among all coaches in all
NCAA Divisions in winning percentage.
Farley headed to Williamstown from eastern Massachusetts
where he was a high school football star at St. John's Prep
(Danvers, MA) and later at Boston University before playing
two years for the San Diego Chargers.

Bill Maver
Bill Maver - Maver is the head coach at
one of New England’s football powerhouse programs.
Maver’s Acton Boxborough Colonials' finished their
2004 campaign by winning their fourth-straight Division 1A
Super Bowl title. Coach Maver’s squad is currently
riding a streak of 50 consecutive wins. With over 30 years
of coaching experience, including 20 as Head Coach at Acton
Boxborough, Maver is among the nations elite High School
coaches. Coach Maver is a graduate of the University of
Connecticut, where he was Captain of the Huskies football
team. Maver was named the New England Patriots 2004 High
School Coach of the Year.

E.J. Mills
E.J. Mills became the Head Coach at Amherst
in 1997. Six seasons and 37 wins later, Mills has restored
the tradition-rich Amherst football program as a perennial
powerhouse and is widely recognized as one of the top head
coaches and defensive minds in the NESCAC and all of NCAA
Division III.
Mills is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he
was a standout baseball player before earning a degree in
history and secondary education in 1988. He began coaching
at Midlakes High School in Clifton Springs, N.Y., before
a two-year stint mentoring the defensive secondary at the
University of Albany. Immediately preceding his tenure at
Amherst, Mills served as the defensive coordinator at Ramapo
College in Mahwah, N.J.

Tom O'Connor
Tom O'Connor has been involved with
numerous youth sports teams and programs in and around
Middlebury, VT including baseball, basketball, football and
martial arts. He is a teacher of Tai Chi Chuan at
Middlebury College and the Director of the Middlebury Tai
Chi Club. He has served as the Offensive Backfield
Coach at both Brown University and at Springfield College.
For two years he worked at Middlebury Union High School in
Middlebury, VT as Assistant Football Coach.
