The August 14th – August 16th Tournament teams played excellent baseball as we experienced great weather all weekend long. For the first time it felt like summer=2 0in the Berkshires. The bats were hot as all teams racked up runs, while putting on hitting clinics for all. The consolation games were also filled with great baseball as a three run homerun with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning sent a game into extra innings. The championship games were both filled with about as much excitement as the fans could handle. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible at Dan Duquette Sports Academy. An additional congratulation goes out to the August 14th – August 16th Tournament Champions: 11U Rhoddy Rippers, 13U Capital City A’s.

The August 7th – August 9th Tournament finally got to experience some good weather in the Berkshires. Along with good weather came great baseball. Saturday was filled with nothing but excitement with three games which ended in walk off victories for the home team. A perfect game was taken all the way into the 5th inning of a 12U (60 ft.) game, and in the 12U (50/70) a play worthy of ESPN’s Top 10 was made as a player robbed a home run while falling over the left field wall. The championship games were all wel l played games with one ending with a walk off base hit to centerfield. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible, especially the grounds crew here at Dan Duquette Sports Academy. An additional congratulation goes out to the August 7th – August 9th Tournament Champions: 10U Bethlehem Eagles, 12U (60 ft.) Rye Brook, 12U Williamstown (50/70).

Rain tried but failed to hold The July 24th – July 26th Tournament teams back from playing sound baseball. The July 17th – July 19th 15U Tournament didn’t start on a great note weather-wise, but the tournament couldn’t have finished on a better note. The evening rain forced the cancelation of 3 games on Friday night. All teams handled the adversity well and played spectacular ball all weekend long to complete all 25 games. In the biggest tournament to date, 12 teams, the level of play was brilliant leaving us with a 5 way tie for the wild card spot. It was a baseball fans dream weekend with 1 run games being the norm. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible, especially the grounds crew here at Dan Duquette Sports Academy. An additional congratulations goes out to the July 17th Tournament Champions: 15U Levittown Cardinals who advanced from the Wild Card spot to win the Tournament.

The July 10th – July 12th was one of the smaller tournaments of the summer but the teams in attendance made a lot of noise. Luckily the rain decided to wait until Saturday night to come but that didn’t slow the tournament down. Despite the heavy rainfall late Saturday the great Dan Duquette Field Crew was able to start the playoff games Sunday right on schedule. The level of play was brilliant with comeback victories, a rare triple play, and a game saving diving catch to clinch the championship in extra innings. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible, especially the grounds crew here at Dan Duquette Sports Academy. An additional congratulations goes out to the July 10th Tournament Champions: 11U Cheshire Reds, and the 13U Clifton Park Green Machine.

The Dan Duquette Sports Academy strategically located in Hinsdale, Massachusetts didn’t experience any of the weekend storms that pounded surrounding towns, and were able to complete all games without a rain delay. One suspended game due to an injury and a close call with fog Saturday night were the only obstacles for the teams this weekend. Great baseball was played by all teams. 12U fans were treated to one of the games rarest feats, a no-hitter thrown by one of the many great athletes in attendance for the tournament. A nine deficit didn’t scare one 12U team as the rallied to score 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth alone to defeat their opponent. In the 16U tournament playoff games back and forth battles were the norm with an exciting and dramatic championship game. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible. An additional congratulation goes20out to the Champions of the June 26th – 28th Tournament: 12U Grand Slam River Dogs, 16U Connecticut Black Sox.

The June 12th – June 14th Tournament ended up being well worth the short delay we experienced the second day of the tournament. The first game Friday night ended up being a preview of the Championship and nothing but great baseball was played in-between. The large 12U field didn’t seem too large for these teams as a couple of home run balls were deposited into the forest behind the fences, and there was nothing but excitement for the fans during the extra inning game concluding Saturday’s games. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible, especially the grounds crew here at Dan Duquette Sports Academy. An additional congratulations goes out to the June 12th – 14th 12U Tournament Champions: Stratford Titans.

The 2009 May 29th-31st Spring Fling Tournament was a great success although the weather wasn’t as agreeable as we had hoped. Although we experienced a few delays and a suspended game the weather couldn’t hold the teams back as they played great baseball all weekend long. The level of play was spectacular with comeback wins, a nine inning 11U game, and even a no-hitter during the 13U tournament. Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible, especially the grounds crew here at Dan Duquette Sports Academy. An additional congratulations goes out to the May 29th Spring Fling Tournament Champions: 11U Atkinson Bulldogs, and the 13U New Hampshire Hammerheads.

The 2009 Memorial Day Tournament from May 22nd - 25th proved to be well worth the third day of games for all who participated. Weather was on our side this weekend and all the teams enjoyed beautiful blue skies and warm weather for the majority of the tournament. The level of baseball was as good as the weather and included pitching duels, upsets, and a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh for one of the championship games! Thank you to all who participated and made this weekend possible, and an additional congratulations goes out to the Memorial Day Champions: 10U Athletes Edge, 12U Team Mattingly, and the 14U Mass Pride.
