The 15U Summer Heat tournament played host to teams from 5 different states and even a team from Canada. All three days displayed great, competitive baseball. Leaving the semifinals with the Bennington Catamounts playing North Adams Babe Ruth; and the New England Ravens playing Hardball. Both of those games were tough fought and close games, leaving just the Bennington Catamounts and Hardball left standing. Bennington played a great tournament and battled hard all weekend, but Hardball proved to be just too much in this championship game. Congratulations to Hardball and Coach Muller on winning our 15U Summer Heat tournament. All of the teams played very well and we wish them the best of luck the rest of the summer.

The 16U tournament was very interesting to say the least. With some very competitive teams the semifinal game between the Croton Bombers and Long Island Astros went down to the very last pitch; leaving the Astros victorious. The other semifinal between 5 Tools Baseball and Western Mass Storm took all of 9 innings to determine a winner. With great pitching from both sides the Storm walked away winners of an intense 4-3 game. The Astros would go on to face the Storm in the championship game. The Storm’s pitching would prove to be too much for the Astros in the rematch. Congratulations to the Storm and Coach Wroth on winning our 16u Summer Heat tournament.

Runner Up: Bethlehem Bombers
Participating Teams:

Northampton Cal Ripken Northampton, MA
Western Mass Storm Agawam, MA
These three teams came in and created a ton of competitive baseball. At the end of pool play everyone had two wins and two losses. With Bethlehem and Western Mass allowing the least amount of runs, they would play in our championship game. Bethlehem battled all weekend long, and played great baseball. But the offense of the Storm came to life in the championship game. Crowning them as champions for the second time in three weeks. Congratulations to Chad Levesque and the Storm.

This 14U tournament consisted of a couple of teams who were very familiar with each other. The Croton Bombers- Mason and ProSwing Pride proved to be the top teams of the bunch. They battled in the championship game as they have before. This time the Bombers would come out ahead; making them our champions. Congratulations to Coach Mason and the Bombers.

The rain played no interference to this exciting 13U tournament. We played all of our games almost right on schedule. After quite a few close games we were able to clearly able to decide our championship. With North Adams sitting at 3-0 and Pomperaug being 2-1, we were set up for a fun matchup in the championship. In the game between these two teams the day before, North Adams had scorched the Panthers 8-0. But Pomperaug would have no part of that in this rematch. Pomperaug jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. In our consolation game the Tigers were able to get a little vengeance against Lenox Baseball. Allowing Dalton to finish third in our June Jam tournament, we would like to thank everyone who came out this weekend as well as wish all the teams the best of luck throughout their seasons.

The 11U tournament played host to many talented baseball teams, from all over the northeast. Five teams competed in this years June Jam tournament, creating a ton of close games as well as an extra innings thriller. In the end the two local teams went on to play in the championship. Lanesboro and Western Mass had tough tasks ahead of them. They both were playing their third game of the day. All of the kids were tired, but there was no shortage of runs in this championship game. Lanesboro hit the ball very well, but could not catch a break. Whereas Western Mass destroyed the baseball all weekend long. A mammoth grand slam was the dagger that put Western Mass in the driver’s seat. They would cruise through the rest of the game, and ultimately making them champions. It was an exciting weekend, and we really appreciate everyone who came out. We would like to wish the best of luck to all the teams and thank you for an exciting weekend.

This year we had the pleasure of hosting our first Father’s Day Weekend tournament for 12U tournament teams. Four teams came to our facilities and competed on our 46/60 field and showed us some great competitive baseball. In the early going two teams stood out with tremendous talent as the ABC Mariners and Carderet Cobras battled a tied 1-1 ballgame until the last inning when the Cobras hit a walk off homerun! The weather was beautiful all weekend and the kids played some fun baseball belting numerous home runs in almost every game. In the championship game the Mariners and Cobras met again but this time the Mariners came out with a vengeance. They put together strings of hits and homeruns and thrived on a tremendous pitching performance by their starter. In our first Father’s Day Weekend tournament ever the ABC Mariners came out the champions. Congratulations to every team and especially to all the fathers out there, we thank you!

This weekend’s 15U tournament was the most competitive tournament by far. Teams from all over traveled to our site in Hindale, MA to play baseball on a beautiful weekend. After day one every team was even with a 1-1 record as each team seemed to beat one another in very close ball games. Not one team had the dominant edge as each team seemed to be as talented as the other. On day two however we had two teams go undefeated for the day: Central Connecticut Select and Northern Titans both held 3-1 records and would meet in the championship game. In the previous match-up between these two teams Northern Titans won and now had the number 1 seed being home team for the championship. In this game, however, the Select came out with Revenge as their pitcher had a spectacular performance dishing out a complete game shutout. The Central Connecticut Select won the 15U tournament against the Titans 7-0. Any team could have won this tournament as all the teams had spectacular talent; we were honored to host these teams this year.

This year in the 14U Tournament of Champions we hosted all Massachusetts teams and even had the pleasure of having two local teams compete. Lenox Baseball and Tribe Baseball stood out immediately in the tournament as they put up great numbers against their opponents. In the pool play game with Lenox and Tribe the game was very competitive and came down to the final inning as Lenox could not come back and beat Tribe. After pool play Tribe was undefeated followed by a close Lenox. In the consolation game Dalton and Brookline met for the second time. In the first meeting between them Brookline took the game easily with a dominant pitching performance but in this game Dalton (who was winless so far) took the victory and placed third in our tournament. Tribe baseball was the home team for the championship against Lenox and trailed early as Lenox held an 8-0 lead through two innings. The Tribe would come back as pitching for Lenox fell apart and slowly gave up runs each inning. In the sixth inning Tribe’s comeback finally took the lead 10-11 as a freak passed ball hit a pole on the backstop and traveled down the line to allow a runner to score from third. Lenox had their chance to tie the game but left the tying run on third as Tribe Baseball won the Championship being undefeated. We thank all the teams for providing an excellent tournament and exciting championship game.13U June 1-3, 2012 Tournament of Champions

This past weekend we hosted the Tournament of Champions which promised to be very competitive. Weather brought forth delays in this weekend’s baseball tournament but the teams were all patient and when the rain stopped we played baseball. The teams didn’t seem to mind as we had 13 year olds diving in the mud and sliding into the bases playing with the utmost tenacity. Almost every game was close but after pool play West Hartford was the only team standing undefeated. In the championship game West Hartford played Lenox baseball, a local team from Lenox, Massachusetts, and Lenox battled their way to victory in a hard fought championship match-up. Lenox had lost to West Hartford the previous night by only one run and came back in the championship game to claim victory in their hometown. All the teams played very well and we wish them the best of luck the rest of the summer.11U June 1-3, 2012 Tournament of Champions

In this year’s 11U Tournament of Champions rain was no delay as all of our games played accordingly. It seemed as if every game this weekend in the 11U was going to come down to the final innings and that came to no exception in the championship game as the Jones River Pirates hosted the Wilton Rebels. Wilton took the lead in the top of the 6th inning putting the pressure on the Pirates as they came up to bat. The Pirates, however, could not come up clutch again in this game as they left the tying run on second in a very close championship game. We give credit to all three teams as the Jones River Pirates, Lanesboro Bulldogs, and Wilton Rebels all played very well in the rainy conditions and presented a wonderful tournament. Congratulations to the Wilton Rebels and Coach McClemonts as they have won this tournament the past two years we hope to see all the teams in the future.

This year we had an exceptional 2012 Memorial Day Tournament for ages 14, 12, and 10 year olds. The 14U tournament hosted the eight teams and showed some spectacular talent. We were very excited for this weekend as two past major leaguers coached teams: Brian Rose (BRB Bulldogs) and Oreste Marrero (LI Dodgers). The tournament seemed to be a Maine showdown as both Maine teams went undefeated throughout pool play and met in the 14U championship game. Maine promised great baseball and showed some great pitching talent. In the end, however, the Maine Dirtdogs coached by Tim Vallee came out champions and were our 14U Memorial Day Champions. Thank you for all the teams participating and for making a great Memorial Day Weekend full of baseball.

The 12U tournament this year for the Memorial Day weekend was an interesting one. Every team in the tournament was competitive and drove in a lot of runs. The tournament was set up so all teams could play five games and the two teams with the best records would play in the championship game. What made this tournament interesting is after the pool play games we had a three way tie for first as the Greenfield Yellowjackets, Maine Black Flies, and Wayland Blazers all were (4-1), having beaten each other. The decision came down to the runs against tally and after counting up the scores the Wayland Blazers gave up 23, Greenfield Yellowjackets 24, and Maine Black Flies 26. Unfortunately for Maine they gave up slightly more runs and it cost them the chance to win the tournament. Greenfield and Wayland provided a great championship game and the Wayland Blazers coached by Sean Trindall came out our Memorial Day champions. Congratulations to Wayland and thank you for all the teams who came out.

This year the 10U Memorial Day tournament was the most competitive tournament we’ve had so far in 2012. Every single team seemed to be defeating the other and the scores from almost every game were close. After pool play the East Coast Eagles were the number 1 seed with a record of (3-1) and the Quincy Redstockings were the last or fifth place seed (1-3). Records had nothing to do with how the brackets finished in this year’s Memorial Day tournament. The Quincy Redstockings battled from the last place seed to upset the Wayland Blazers and East Coast Eagles to make it to the championship game. Titans Baseball Club met with Quincy on the baseball diamond in the finale after they defeated Wilton in a very close 1 run ballgame. At the end of the day Titans Baseball Club came out champions leaving the Redstocking’s tying run on first base. Both teams shook hands and were very respectful to not only each other but our umpires and facility as well. Thank you to the parents and coaches for letting your kids stay and compete at our facility hopefully next year’s Memorial Day tournament can be as great as this year.

This was the opening weekend for Dan Duquette Sports Academy’s Spring Fling tournament. What a great way to kick off the 2012 year with beautiful weather conditions all weekend creating a great baseball atmosphere. Six teams competed in this year’s 13U tournament but only the East Coast Eagles White came out champions with a perfect record of 5-0. They had to battle some tough teams in the very competitive tournament such as Tribe Baseball (3-1) and Bennington Bombers (2-3). Only the Eagles White and Tribe Baseball stood undefeated after pool play but Bennington’s competitive spirit defeated Tribe as they moved on and played Eagles White for the championship. The East Coast Eagles White ultimately became champions and put on a clinic of hitting and pitching throughout the tournament to hoist a well-deserved champion trophy. We wish the best of luck to all the teams and thank you for an impressive opening tournament.
